Janusz Migasiuk - born in Poland; a graduate of the Institute of Art in Krakow.
The subject of his creation is focused on landscape, still life and figurative painting.
His artwork reflects nature and captures the impressionistic and expressionistic view of the world.
The colors, tones and shapes are carefully composed based on the artist’s scrupulous observation of the surroundings and converted through his artistic vision.

His diverse artwork has been exhibited in many galleries in Poland and continues to enrich numerous interiors in the United States and Europe.

Carved Wood Painting
This challenging technique combines the skills of woodworking and art painting in one cohesive, striking form.  The artwork is set apart by its unique texture which makes the paintings fascinating and distinctively attractive in various light conditions.

Janusz Migasiuk’s latest carved wood painting series was born from the desire to articulate his artistic needs in an expressionistic, vibrant and energetic way.  The freedom of line, form and color opened up new possibilities and allowed for communicating through art in a different way.  This entirely new creation process proved to be liberating and extremely refreshing.

Landscapes
Janusz Migasiuk’s landscapes strive to capture his love for and fascination with nature and the outdoors.  The appropriate mood and atmosphere of his paintings encapsulate the astonishing beauty of the surroundings.  In a way, landscape paintings fulfill the artist’s longing to be around nature.

Still Life
Still life paintings have always fascinated the artist with their energy.  There is always so much that could be captured, so much interactivity between the individual elements that they are, in his eyes and his work, very far from being “still”.

Portraits
The most important thing for Janusz Migasiuk in a portrait is to capture it in such a way that it truly becomes a portrait.  The artist always focuses and works very hard to encapsulate the true character of his subjects.  Throughout his artistic career, Janusz has completed numerous portrait commissions.  He painted a portrait of Louise and George Harrison for Louise Harrison, George Harrison's sister.

Birth of Passion

Even as a small child, Janusz felt an overwhelming desire to draw and paint everything that surrounded and fascinated him.  He was captivated by almost everything around him.  It might have been motifs from the old fairytales he read, or the ships he saw on his trips to the sea.  He remembers being driven by the need to recreate all of these “attractions” on paper.

He created his first oil on canvas at the age of 11.  It was very dark, because no one had told him to use white paint to lighten it… There was probably more paint on the furniture, carpet and his clothes than on the painting itself… but it was the unlimited color possibilities of oil paints that fascinated him the most.

Years of Exploration
While going to grade school, Janusz also attended a music academy in Rzeszow, Poland, and learned how to play the accordion.  When everyone thought he would pursue art in his further studies, he decided to choose a technical school specializing in electronics.  At the same time, he decided to play volleyball at the local league (Polytechnic in Rzeszow).  During that time, he also started to play the bass guitar.

From Krakow to Chicago
Because of his extensive background and passion for music and art, continuing his artistic path came naturally.  After a year of studying in Rzeszow’s Pedagogical College, Janusz decided to move to one of the most magical cities in the world – Krakow.  He transferred to the Institute of Art where he studied various techniques of painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and digital/computer art.

At the same time, he started to play the bass with the local cabaret group and other young artists in the Krakow music scene.  Because of his numerous performances and concerts, Janusz was able to travel around Poland and Europe and gain inspiration by some of the most beautiful places his homeland had to offer. 

Today, Janusz lives with his wife and two children in Chicago and continues to gain motivation from his surroundings and experiences.  His artwork carries on his artistic vision and passion.  He constantly grows as an artist and welcomes the challenge of exploring new techniques and fresh means of expression.  His latest creations, carved wood paintings, clearly reflect the artist’s desire and need to communicate his ideas and express his thoughts in a brand new way.
